These are the small bent-up washers that sit behind a nut and get folded over a flat or a tab on the shaft once the nut is torqued down. They're cheap insurance against a nut backing off from vibration, and they're not reusable once bent - if you're pulling the clutch, gearbox sprocket, or alternator rotor apart, plan on fresh tabs going back in rather than reusing the old ones.
