Bulb (3W. M.C.C.) (989)
A 3W instrument and pilot lamp bulb (Lucas 989/989L) used in headlamp and console assemblies on these bikes.
This is the small 3-watt bulb (Lucas type 989, sometimes shown as 989L) that lights the pilot lamp and instrument faces on these bikes. You'll find it referenced across headlamp, flasher, and console figures, and it's the same bulb used behind the speedo and tach glass as well as in the headlamp shell for the pilot/parking light function.

Catalog listings for this bulb run from 1968 through 1978, showing up in headlamp assemblies, the electrical equipment lists, and instrument console groups. The part number 99-0548 and the alias 989L point to the same physical bulb - if your parts book shows one or the other, you're in the right place.
These are small bayonet-base bulbs, easy to overlook until one burns out and you notice your speedo or pilot light has gone dark. Worth keeping a spare in the toolkit since it's a common failure item and cheap to swap once you've got the lens or lamp shell open.
