Washer (under motif, front)
A small flat washer (PN 97-1388, aka H1388) used under trim and fastener heads on the tank motif and related fittings.
This is a small flat washer, PN 97-1388, also found under the older H1388 number. The catalog description ties it to the tank motif fixing on the front of the gas tank, though the part shows up across several figures including the gas tank and twinseat section and the swinging fork and suspension unit listings.

A washer like this does the basic job any washer does: it spreads the load of a fastener over a wider area so tightening a screw or bolt doesn't chew into whatever's underneath it, whether that's a badge, a bracket, or trim. Given how it turns up in more than one figure across the mid-70s catalogs, it looks like a general-purpose small washer that got used in a few spots on the bike rather than one single dedicated application.
It's cheap enough that most folks buying one buy a handful to keep on the bench. If you're not sure which exact spot yours came off, bring in what you've got or give us a call before you order and we'll help sort out fitment.
