CENTER STAND SPRING 71-ON
The return spring for the center stand on oil-in-frame Triumph twins, part number 83-3793.
This is the center stand spring, part number 83-3793, also seen under the older F13793 designation. The catalog notes it for oil-in-frame machines from 1971 on, and it turns up across frame and gearbox area figures in our records, which tells you it's a general chassis hardware item rather than something specific to one particular assembly.

The job of this spring is straightforward: it provides the tension that pulls the center stand up out of the way once you've kicked the bike off the stand, and holds it there so it doesn't drop down and drag while you're riding. It's a small part but an important one to check when a stand feels loose, hangs low, or doesn't snap back the way it should.
If you're replacing this spring, it's worth having a look at the pivot bolts and nuts on the stand at the same time, since those parts see the same wear and tear and often get replaced together.
