Spring – centre stand return

Return spring for the centre stand that pulls the stand back up after use.

PN · 83-2896

This is the return spring for the centre stand, the part that pulls the stand back up once you've kicked the bike off it and ride away. It's a small but important piece of hardware — without proper tension in this spring, the stand can hang down or fail to retract fully, which is not something you want dragging along the ground or catching on a curb.

It shows up in the parts book under the SWINGING ARM - CENTRE STAND - REAR BRAKE CONTROL figure, which tells you where it lives: down at the rear of the frame near the swinging arm pivot, working alongside the stand pivot and mounting hardware. The catalog only ties it to the 1973 model year in our records, so if you're working on a different year, give us a call and we'll confirm it's the right one before you order.

These springs take a lot of flex cycles over the years and it's common for them to weaken or lose their grip over time. If your stand feels lazy going back up, this is one of the first things worth checking.
