D WASHER R.BRK LT SWITCH

D-shaped locking washer for the rear brake light switch mounting strap on the swinging fork assembly.

PN · 82-5413

This is a small D-shaped washer used with the rear brake light switch mounting on the swinging fork assembly. The flat edge on the washer is shaped to key against a bend in the mounting strap that holds the brake switch carrier to the rear brake rod, so the washer sits still instead of spinning while you tighten things down. It's a simple but purpose-cut piece, not a generic round washer, so a stock flat washer won't do the same job.

In the parts books this one turns up under the swinging fork and suspension unit listings across a run of years, and it also carries the older F5413 number if you're working from an earlier book. It's cheap insurance to grab a spare or two when you're servicing the rear brake switch linkage, since it's easy to lose in the parts tray.

Call the shop if you want to double check you've got the right style of switch carrier and strap before ordering, but this washer itself is a straightforward, low-cost item that doesn't vary much across the years it shows up in.
