Camplate index plunger for the gearbox, holds the camplate steady in each selected gear.

This is the camplate index plunger, a small spring-loaded piece inside the gearbox that holds the camplate in each gear position. As you move the gear lever, the camplate rotates and the plunger drops into a notch to keep the selection from wandering off a gear on its own.
