Sleeve nut
Sleeve nut used at the chaincase alternator-wire feed-through, catalog PN 70-8992 (also 70-9360, E8992).
This is a sleeve nut, part number 70-8992, also found in the books under 70-9360 or the old E8992 stamping. It shows up in the CHAINCASE AND CHAINS section of the parts catalog, so it lives down in the primary chaincase area, and other catalog listings tie it to the alternator wiring feed-through, where a wire needs to pass through the chaincase without letting oil weep out around it.

A sleeve nut like this is meant to compress a grommet or seal around a wire as it passes through a case wall, so the nut itself is doing sealing duty as much as fastening duty. Ours doesn't come with a stated thread size, material, or finish in our records, so don't assume anything there.
If you're chasing an oil leak at the chaincase where the alternator wire exits, or if you're rebuilding that stator lead connection, this is the fastener the books point to for that job. Give us a call if you want to confirm it matches what's on your machine before ordering.
