This is the oil seal for the left main (crankshaft) bearing on the crankcase, listed in the parts books as 70-8025, with the earlier E8025 number covering the same seal. It sits at the left side of the crankcase where the crankshaft passes through, and its job is straightforward: keep the oil inside the engine from working its way out along the shaft.
