Scavenge gear – oil pump, driven
Driven scavenge gear for the Triumph oil pump, pulling oil back from the engine to the tank.
This is the driven scavenge gear for the oil pump, part number 70-6039 (also shown in older parts books as E6039). It's one half of the gear pair inside the oil pump body that pulls used oil back out of the engine and returns it to the tank, working alongside the feed side of the pump to keep oil circulating properly.

It shows up in the parts book under the oil pump release valve and oil filter figure, and also under the inner primary cover oil pump listing, which tells you it lives right where the oil pump mounts, tucked in behind the timing chest area on the engine's bottom end. The catalog entries for this gear span 1969 through 1974 across several unit-construction Triumph twins, though our records don't pin it to one specific model, so check it against what you're working on before you order.
If you're rebuilding an oil pump or chasing low oil pressure or poor scavenging, this gear is one of the wear points worth inspecting. Ed's advice: pull the pump and look at the gear teeth and end faces for wear before you condemn anything else in the lubrication system.
