It's a small fastener but it does real work, keeping the outer cover sealed against the chaincase so the primary chain and oil bath stay where they belong. The catalog shows it appearing across several entries from the mid to late 1960s, so it's a part that gets asked for a lot when someone's doing a chaincase gasket job or replacing a stripped or corroded screw.
