Exhaust camshaft nut

Left-hand thread nut that secures the exhaust camshaft gear on unit-construction Triumph twins.

PN · 70-4563

This is the exhaust camshaft nut, part number 70-4563, also carried in older parts books under E4563. It secures the exhaust camshaft gear on the timing side of the engine, and the catalog places it right in with the crankshaft and connecting rod parts, which is where you'll be working when you're into that area of the motor.

The catalog listing and other sources on this number agree it's a left-hand thread nut, which is a detail worth knowing before you touch it with a wrench, since threading it the wrong direction can strip it or the shaft in a hurry.

This one shows up across a run of catalog years in the '60s for the unit-construction twins. If you're not sure which cam nut your engine takes, bring in the old one or give us a call before ordering.
