Taper compression ring
A taper-faced compression ring for the piston, listed under Triumph's crankshaft and piston section.
70-3048 is a taper compression ring, one of the piston rings that seats in the top land area of the piston to control combustion pressure and help the piston seal against the cylinder wall. It shows up in the parts book under the crankshaft, piston, and timing gears section, which is where Triumph grouped piston ring listings alongside the rest of the bottom-end and timing components.

The catalog carries this one under the alias E3048 as well, so if you're working from an older parts list and see that number instead, it's the same ring. Our records show it appearing across catalog entries from 1963 to 1964, but we don't have enough here to pin it to a specific model - give us a call and we'll confirm fitment against your engine before you order.
Piston rings wear and lose tension over time, and a tired taper compression ring will show up as blow-by and lost compression, so if you're doing a rebuild this is a normal item to replace as a set rather than run one worn ring against fresh ones.
We've never carried this one. Tell us what you're after and we'll go looking — you'll get a price and photos before you commit to anything.
