Cylinder base nut, B-range

Cylinder base nut (B-range), 70-2412, also used as a fork pinch nut across several Triumph twin and single models.

PN · 70-2412

This is the 70-2412 cylinder base nut, listed in the parts books under the B-range designation and also known by its older E2412 number. It shows up across a wide spread of figures — cylinder block and head assemblies on the 3TA, 5TA, T90, T100 variants, and telescopic front fork assemblies on the 6T, TR6, T120, and related models — because the same small nut did double duty holding down cylinder base studs and, on the fork side, working as a pinch nut.

Because it turns up in so many different figure titles across both engine and fork assemblies, it's clearly a nut Triumph used wherever this thread and size fit the job, rather than a part built for one specific application. If you're matching one up, bring the stud or bolt it threads onto and we'll help confirm it's the right nut for your engine or fork.

Given how many catalog entries reference it, keeping a few of these on hand isn't a bad idea when you're doing top end work or fork service — they're the kind of small hardware that's easy to lose track of during a teardown.
