This is a crank bolt for the pre-unit three-piece crankshaft assembly, one of six required to hold the flywheel and crank together. On these older Triumph engines the crankshaft was built up from separate pieces rather than machined as one solid unit, and bolts like this one clamp the assembly so it runs true and stays together under load.
