Outer valve spring

Outer valve spring for pre-unit 6T, T110, and TR6 cylinder heads, part number 70-1487 (alias E1487).

PN · 70-1487

This is the outer valve spring for the cylinder head, part number 70-1487, also known by its earlier alias E1487. It shows up in the parts books under the CYLINDER BLOCK AND HEAD figures for the 6T and for the T110 and TR6, so it's a pre-unit era top end piece.

Valve springs work in pairs on these heads, an inner and an outer, stacked together to close the valve after the cam and rocker have opened it. This is the outer one of that pair. When you're doing head work on one of these engines, it's common practice to replace both springs together rather than just the one that looks tired, since they've usually seen the same miles and heat cycles.

Our catalog record ties this one to the 6T, T110, and TR6 cylinder head figures across the early 1960s appearances. If you're not sure which spring your particular head needs, give us a call and we'll sort out fitment before you order.
