This is an O ring that seals the air filter housing on the BSA A65. It shows up in the catalog under the SIDECOVERS and AIR CLEANER figures, which puts it right at the air cleaner assembly where the filter element meets the housing or intake.

It's a simple sealing piece, but a tired or missing O ring here can let unfiltered air sneak past the element, which nobody wants working its way into the carb and cylinder. Cheap enough to keep a spare of when you're servicing the air cleaner.
