BSA Anchor peg — gearchange spring
An anchor peg that holds the gearchange return spring in place behind the inner timing cover.
The 68-3058 is an anchor peg for the gearchange spring, a small fixed post that gives the return spring on the gearchange mechanism something to hook onto and pull against. It lives behind the inner timing cover, in the gearchange mechanism assembly, where the selector return spring needs a fixed anchor point to keep the shift lever centered and returning properly after each gear change.

It's a simple, low-profile piece, but if it's missing, bent, or worn loose in its mounting, the gearchange spring won't hold tension right and shifting can feel sloppy or inconsistent. Because it sits inside the timing cover area, checking or replacing it usually means the cover is already off for other gearchange mechanism work.
