This is a gearbox filler cap with a dipstick attached, listed for BSA A50 and A65 twins in the 1968-72 range. It's a BSA part, not a Triumph one, even though it lives in our system under a Triumph-style part number. It threads into the top of the gearbox and lets you check the oil level right off the stick when you pull it out.
