Contact set (99-1266)

Contact breaker (points) set for the timing cover ignition system, PN 60600271, also listed as 99-1266.

PN · 60600271

This is a contact breaker set, also called points, that lives inside the timing cover on the engine, alongside the oil pump and oil pressure relief valve. The points open and close to trigger the ignition spark at the right moment, and they wear over time from the mechanical rubbing of the points arm against the cam lobe, so they're a normal service item on any bike that still runs a mechanical ignition system.

The catalog carries this under 60600271, with 99-1266 as an alias you'll see on older parts lists or boxes. It shows up in the timing cover and contact breaker figures for the 1973-1974 model years in our records.

When you're ordering, have your timing cover and points plate in front of you if you can, since points sets are matched to a specific plate design and getting the wrong one means it won't seat or gap properly. Check the old set before you toss it so you know what you're replacing.
