A 5/16 inch spring-type lock washer (60-4260, formerly S26-3) used under nuts and bolts to keep them from vibrating loose.

This is a 5/16 inch lock washer, catalog number 60-4260, carried over from the older S26-3 part number. It's a small spring-type washer that sits under a nut or bolt head to keep the fastener from working loose over time as the bike vibrates down the road.

In the catalog records it turns up across a wide range of fastener locations - manifold and tappet cover hardware, frame fittings, the ignition coil, horn, rectifier and zener diode mounts, the oil tank, and fender and tail lamp fixings. It's a general-purpose fastener piece rather than something tied to one specific spot, which is why it shows up in so many different figures.

If you're replacing hardware in any of these areas and the old lock washer is flattened out or rusted, it's worth swapping in a fresh one. Cheap insurance isn't the right way to put it, but a washer that's lost its spring won't do its job holding the fastener tight.
