PRIMARY CHAIN TRI T140 750- RENOLDS 84 LINKS TRIPLEX
Renold triplex primary chain, 84 links, endless, for the 750cc unit-construction Triumph twins.
This is the primary chain for the 750cc unit-construction twins, a Renold triplex (three-row) chain running 84 links, endless (no joining link, no split). The primary chain connects the engine crankshaft to the clutch basket inside the primary chaincase, transmitting drive from the motor before it ever reaches the gearbox. It shows up in the parts book under the chaincase and chains listings, and also gets referenced alongside the gearbox inner and outer cover figures since those covers bolt up around the same chaincase area.

This PN carries an older alternate number, 116-038-84E, from earlier parts-book listings for the same physical chain. Catalog coverage on this one runs from the early-to-mid 1970s into the later 750 twin years.
Because it's an endless chain, fitting it means the primary chaincase has to come apart to get it onto the sprockets, unlike a chain with a spring link you can thread through. Worth keeping that in mind when you're planning the job, not just ordering the part.
