Ignition coil Lucas 17M12 (45221)

Lucas 17M12 ignition coil, PN 60-2203 (also D2203), for the ignition circuit on these machines.

PN · 60-2203

This is the Lucas ignition coil, PN 60-2203, also known by the older D2203 form and by its Lucas type number 17M12. It's an electrical component, showing up in the catalog under ignition coils and general electrical equipment sections across a wide span of production years.

The coil is what steps up battery voltage to fire the spark plugs — it's part of the ignition circuit, working alongside the points, condenser, and battery on these machines. Lucas made these in pairs on twins for separate cylinder circuits, though our records here don't spell out how many you'd need for your particular setup.

If you're chasing a weak spark or an intermittent miss, the coil is a common suspect alongside the points and condenser. Give us a call if you're not sure which coil your bike takes — the catalog spans a fair number of years and configurations.
