Our catalog record shows this axle appearing across gearbox outer cover listings from the mid-70s through the mid-80s, so it's a part that stuck around across a run of outer cover assemblies. If you're rebuilding a kickstart mechanism and the axle is worn at the splines or bent, this is the shaft to replace.
Check the fit of your quadrant and return spring against this axle before you button the cover back up, since wear here often shows up as a kickstart lever that doesn't return properly or slips under load.
