MAINSHAFT c/w THIRD AND LOW GEAR
Gearbox mainshaft assembly complete with third and low gear, Triumph part 57-2276.
57-2276 is the mainshaft for the gearbox, sold complete with third and low gear already fitted to it. It shows up in the parts book under the GEARBOX SHAFTS, BEARINGS AND INNER COVER figure, which puts it right in the middle of the transmission cluster, not out on the covers or the selector mechanism. The older book form of this part number is T2276, so if you're working from an earlier catalog and see that number, it's the same physical piece.

Because this mainshaft comes as an assembly with third and low gear already on it, it saves you from having to source and fit those gears separately when you're rebuilding the box. Our records show this one appearing across catalog entries from 1967 into 1970, so it's worth checking that against your own gearbox parts book before ordering to make sure you've got the right shaft for your build.
If you're tearing down a gearbox and finding wear on the third or low gear teeth, or play on the mainshaft itself, this is the part you're after. Give us a call if you're not sure whether your box uses this version of the shaft.
