NEEDLE BEARING T100 LAYSHAFT KICKSHAFT SIDE (Requires collapsing old bearing in housing for removal)
Needle bearing supporting the kickstart side of the gearbox layshaft, PN 57-1897.
This is the needle bearing that supports the kickstart side of the layshaft in the gearbox, listed in the parts books as 57-1897 (older stock may still turn up marked T1897, the letter-prefix form used before the numeric system took over). It sits in the gearbox inner cover area, part of the shafts-and-bearings assembly that keeps the layshaft running true when you swing the kickstart lever.

Our records show this bearing in the T100 gearbox family, appearing across catalog entries into the late '60s. It's an open-ended needle bearing, small but doing real work every time the kickstart is used, and a worn one will let the layshaft end float around more than it should.
One thing worth flagging before you order: removing the old bearing means collapsing it in its housing rather than just pressing it out, so plan on that step rather than expecting it to slide free. If you're not sure whether this is the bearing your gearbox needs, give the shop a call and we'll walk through it with you.
