BEARING,LAYSHAFT OPEN END 650/750 TRI
Open-end layshaft needle roller bearing for the Triumph 650/750 unit twin gearbox, part number 57-1614.
This is the open-end layshaft needle roller bearing for Triumph 650 and 750 unit twins, part number 57-1614, also known under the older T1614 or B1112 markings. It sits in the gearbox, supporting the open end of the layshaft as it spins under load from the gear cluster. The catalog places it in the gearbox inner cover and selector assemblies, so it comes into play any time that end of the box is opened up for inspection or rebuild.

This bearing has a companion piece that covers the closed end of the same shaft, 57-1606, so if you're rebuilding the gearbox it's worth checking both ends rather than just replacing the one that looks worn. Needle bearings like this one wear from both age and lack of lubrication, so a gearbox that's been sitting or run low on oil is a good candidate for a look at this part.
Our records show this number appearing across catalog listings from the mid-1960s into the late 1970s, so it's a long-running part in the Triumph unit-construction twin gearbox line. If you're not sure which end you need or whether your box takes one or both, give us a call before you order and we'll help sort it out.
