INNER CHAINCASE
The inner chaincase for the primary drive, part number 57-1600 (also listed as T1600), sealing the primary chain and alternator area against the engine side.
The inner chaincase, part number 57-1600, is the fixed cover that closes off the primary drive area from the engine and gearbox side, working with the outer chaincase to keep the primary chain running in its own enclosed space. This is the piece that stays put against the crankcase and gearbox mounting faces while the outer half comes off for chain adjustment and inspection. On this bike it lives in the chaincase and alternator area, so expect it to seat around the alternator stator and rotor as well as sealing against the primary chain compartment.

The older parts book number for this one is T1600, so if you're working from an early reference or a bike with an older tag on the part, that's the same physical piece under a different label.
Our catalog record ties this to appearances from 1960 through 1962, so it's worth checking your own parts book or comparing the casting against what you've got before ordering, since chaincase parts changed over the years and fitment isn't something we can guarantee from this record alone.
