Vent pipe

Oil tank vent pipe, PN 57-1578 (also listed as T1578), from the OIL TANKS assembly.

PN · 57-1578

This is the vent pipe from the oil tank, PN 57-1578, listed in the catalog under the older T1578 designation as well. It shows up in the OIL TANKS figure, so it's part of the tank assembly rather than the engine casting itself.

A vent pipe like this lets the oil tank breathe as oil level and pressure shift with the engine running, keeping the tank from building up pressure or pulling a vacuum that could mess with oil flow. It's a simple piece, but if it's missing, cracked, or blocked, you can end up with oil weeping out of gaskets and seals that have nothing wrong with them otherwise.
