Layshaft c/w high gear (22T)
Gearbox layshaft with 22-tooth high gear, listed under the older T959 number in early parts books.
This is the layshaft assembly for the gearbox, complete with the high gear cut at 22 teeth. In the older parts books it was listed as T959, which is the same part under Triumph's earlier letter-prefix numbering before the shop switched to the 57- style numbers.

The layshaft sits inside the gearbox shell and carries the gear cluster that the mainshaft gears mesh with as you work through the ratios. The high gear on this shaft is part of what puts the box into its top ratio, so if you're rebuilding a box that's jumping out of gear or making noise on the top end, this shaft and its gear are worth pulling and inspecting for wear on the dogs and teeth.
Our catalog record ties this one to gearbox shaft and gear figures from the early 1960s. If you're not sure this matches what's in your box, give us a call before you order and we'll confirm against your parts book.
