This is the guide plate stud used in the gearbox outer cover and casing on Triumph unit-construction gearboxes, catalog number 57-0454, also listed under the older T454 designation. It's a small stud, 0.25 in. overall, that locates and secures the guide plate inside the gearbox housing.

Parts like this don't get much attention until one snaps or backs out, and then the gearbox internals it's holding in place start moving around when they shouldn't. It shows up across catalog listings from 1960 through 1968, so it's a long-running fitment across that stretch of gearbox casings.
If you're rebuilding a gearbox and pulling the outer cover, it's worth checking this stud while you're in there rather than putting it back together and finding out later it was marginal.
