Zener Diode (99- 0590)
Lucas Zener Diode, part 49345 (99-0590), used to shed excess charging current so the electrical system isn't overvolted.
This is the Zener Diode, Lucas part 49345, also cataloged as 99-0590 and cross-referenced to the 1N3314RB type. It shows up in the electrical figures alongside the ignition coils, horn, and rectifier, and on later bikes it's grouped with the capacitor pack and flasher unit as well.

A zener diode on these machines works as a voltage regulator, bleeding off excess charging current as heat so the battery and bulbs aren't subjected to overvoltage once the engine is running fast enough that the alternator is putting out more than the system needs. It's usually bolted to a heat sink somewhere out in the airflow since it has to shed that heat to work properly.
Our catalog record for this one spans appearances from 1964 through 1974, but that's just a range across all the figure listings, not a claim that it fits every bike in between - check the figure for your machine before ordering, and if you're not sure which diode your harness calls for, give us a call and we'll sort it out.
