BSA Bolt, footchange pedal (1/4" British Standard Cycle x 3/4")

The 1/4 inch BSC by 3/4 inch bolt that secures the footchange pedal to its shaft.

PN · 42-6554

This is the bolt that holds the footchange pedal onto its shaft, listed in the parts books as 1/4 inch British Standard Cycle by 3/4 inch. It's a small, plain piece of hardware, but it's the one thing standing between your foot lever and staying put through the gearchange.

It turns up across several figures covering the footchange and kickstart mechanism, along with the outer timing cover area, so this is where the gear lever and kickstart assembly bolt to the engine. Given the BSC thread callout, this is an older-style fastener rather than a later UNF piece, worth keeping in mind if you're sorting a parts drawer or trying to match up hardware on a rebuild.

If you're missing this one or it's buggered from being over-tightened over the years, it's worth having a spare on hand since it's easy to lose track of during a strip-down. Confirm the thread matches what you've got before you order, since BSC and UNF hardware can look similar at a glance but won't interchange.
