BSA Flexible oil pipe, to rocker box
A flexible oil feed pipe running oil up to the rocker box.
This is the flexible oil pipe that feeds the rocker box, carrying oil up top so the valve gear gets lubricated. Being flexible rather than a rigid pipe, it can absorb the engine's vibration and flex where a solid line would eventually crack or fatigue at the fittings.

The catalog places it under the CYLINDER AND CRANKSHAFT figure, with entries running 1969-1970. If you're replacing this on your machine, look the old pipe over for cracking, especially near the union ends, since a split here will show up as an oil leak or, worse, starved rocker gear.
