BSA Grommet for contact breaker leads
A rubber grommet that seals and protects the contact breaker lead where it passes through the timing cover area.
This is a grommet that seals the hole where the contact breaker leads pass through the timing cover area. It keeps the wiring from chafing against the metal edge of the hole and helps stop oil from creeping out along the wires. You'll find it referenced in the crankcase and inner timing cover figures alongside the gearchange mechanism, so it sits down at the bottom end of the motor where the points wiring exits.

The part shows up under the legacy alias 40-705 as well as the current form 40-0705 in the catalog records, so if your parts book lists the older style number, it's the same physical piece.
It's a small item, but a cracked or missing grommet is an easy way to get an oil leak or a chafed wire at the points, so it's worth checking when you're in there for other work.
