BSA Rocker box stud (5/16" British Standard Cycle/Fine × 2-9/16")

A 5/16 inch BSF, 2-9/16 inch rocker box stud for securing the rocker box to the cylinder head.

PN · 40-0127

This is a rocker box stud, 5/16 inch British Standard Cycle/Fine thread, 2-9/16 inches long. It's the fastener that holds the rocker box down onto the cylinder head, so it lives right up top in the valve gear area where the figure titles place it: cylinder head, exhaust pipe, and cylinder and crankshaft sections of the parts book.

Catalog appearances for this stud run from 1969 to 1970. If you're rebuilding a head and pulling old studs, it's worth checking thread condition closely since these get torqued and re-torqued over the years and the threads in the head casting can be less forgiving than the stud itself.

Also listed under 40-127 in older references, same physical part. If you're not sure this is the exact stud your head calls for, bring in the old one or give us a call before ordering.
