Reproduction Lucas 31688 brake light switch, 6SA type, for Triumph 3TA/5TA, replacing the earlier 34381.
This is a reproduction brake light switch, Lucas 31688, built to the 6SA type pattern for Triumph 3TA and 5TA twins. It's a Sparx-made copy, sold under the SPX010 alias, and it lists as a direct replacement for the older Lucas 34381 that it supersedes.

The switch's job is simple: it closes the circuit that lights the stop lamp when the rear brake is applied. On these bikes that's a mechanically-actuated switch tied into the rear brake linkage rather than a hydraulic pressure switch, since these are drum-brake, cable-operated machines.
