Norton Gearbox Adjuster Crosshead Nut

Crosshead nut used with the gearbox adjuster bolt to set gearbox position and chain tension.

PN · 21998

This is the crosshead adjuster nut used in the gearbox adjuster setup, where it works with the adjuster bolt to set gearbox mounting position and chain tension on the plates the gearbox pivots on. It shows up in the gearbox figures covering the shell, gear cluster, mounting bolts, and countershaft sprockets, so it's part of the hardware that lets you slide the box fore and aft to get the primary chain adjustment right.

The manufacturer tag on this one says Lucas, but a gearbox adjuster nut isn't an electrical part, so don't put much weight on that tag - this is a mechanical fastener that lives in the gearbox mounting hardware, not anything Lucas would have made.
