BOLT CENTER STAND PIVOT 1969-70 (PRE OIL IN FRAME) - LATER STEPPED BOLT THAT REPLACED 82-5678

Stepped pivot bolt for the center stand on pre-oil-in-frame 1969-70 Triumph twins and triples; some suppliers cross-reference it to 82-5678.

PN · 21-1978

This is the pivot bolt for the center stand on pre-oil-in-frame Triumphs, catalog dated 1969-70. It's a stepped bolt, meaning it has an unthreaded shank section under the head so the stand can swing freely on it while the threaded portion draws down tight into the frame lug. Two of these are used per stand.

The design includes a cut section on the lower part of the bolt that works with a lock tab washer, so the bolt stays put once torqued rather than backing out from the constant motion of the stand pivoting up and down.

Some parts books and supplier catalogs show 82-5678 for this position, so if you're chasing a listing under that number, check it against your parts book or call us before ordering. It also shows up under the alias S1978 in some references, same physical part.
