Tachometer drive plug (L. H. thread)
Left-hand thread blanking plug for the tachometer drive hole in the crankcase.
This is the blanking plug that screws into the tachometer drive boss on the crankcase when there's no rev counter drive fitted, or when you pull the drive cable off and need to seal the hole. It's a left-hand thread part, so keep that in mind when you're sorting it in a parts tray with other crankcase fittings that run standard right-hand.

The part lives in the crankcase area per the parts book, and it shows up across a long run of catalog years, so it's a piece worth keeping a spare of in the toolbox if you ever swap tachometer drive setups or pull the cable for service. The legacy alias S1871 is the same physical plug under the old numbering.
It's a small item but an easy one to lose track of or leave off, and running the engine with that hole open isn't something you want to do for long. If you're not sure whether your crankcase takes this plug, check the tachometer drive boss threads before ordering.
