CLUTCH CENTER LOCK NUT - 1968 ON
Clutch center lock nut for 1968-on Triumph gearboxes, secures the clutch center to the mainshaft.
This is the clutch center lock nut, catalog number 21-0586, listed for the 1968-on gearbox setup. It shows up in the parts book under the GEARBOX OUTER COVER and CLUTCH figures, so it lives right where the clutch assembly mounts to the mainshaft, holding the clutch center in place against that shaft.

The older pre-1968 hub used a different nut, so if you're working on an earlier bike don't reach for this one - the catalog draws a clear line at 1968. This nut appears across a long run of catalog years, into the late 1970s, so it's a part that stuck around through several iterations of the unit-construction twins.
The alias S586 is just the same physical part under an older reference number - if you see that stamped on an invoice or in an old parts list, it's this nut. Worth keeping one on hand since it's a small, cheap-to-lose piece of hardware that's easy to strip or round off with the wrong tool.
