NUT 1/4 UNF PLAIN
A plain 1/4 UNF nut used in dozens of locations across Triumph unit and OIF-era motorcycles.
This is a plain 1/4 UNF nut, part number 14-0301, one of the general-purpose fasteners that shows up all over the bike rather than in just one spot. Looking through the catalog, it turns up on exhaust fittings, the gearbox outer and inner covers, the swinging fork and suspension mounts, the oil tank, the tail lamp support, the rear wheel and rear brake area, ignition coil and horn mounting, and several cylinder block and head listings across a long run of models and years. It is one of those nuts a shop keeps a jar of because so many different assemblies call for it.

Because it is a plain UNF nut with no unusual step or shoulder, there is nothing exotic about how it is used - it goes wherever a 1/4 UNF stud or bolt needs a nut on it, and the catalog entries above give you a sense of just how many places on these bikes that turns out to be. If you are chasing down a specific missing nut on your bike, this is a good bet as long as the stud itself takes a 1/4 UNF thread.
You will also see this part cross-referenced as 72-420-211 or with the number written as 14.0301 in some records - all the same physical nut, just different ways it has been logged over the years.
