Bolt Motor to motor plates

A 5/16 UNF, 2 inch part-threaded hex bolt used for motor-to-frame plate mounting and various other engine and chassis fittings.

PN · 14-0221

Bolt 14-0221 is a mounting bolt used to hold the engine to the frame's motor plates, and it turns up across a wide range of catalog figures beyond just the engine mount itself - swinging arm fittings, footrests, air cleaner, rear brake, and more. That spread tells you it's one of those hex bolts Triumph used in a lot of places where a solid, part-threaded fastener was needed rather than a fully-threaded one.

This is a 5/16 UNF bolt, 2 inches long, with part of the shank left unthreaded so the plain section can seat cleanly in the mounting holes it passes through. The old alias 14-221 is the same part, just written without the leading zero, so if you find that number in an older parts book it points to the same bolt.

Given how many figures list it, it's worth keeping a few on hand if you're pulling the motor plates or doing engine mount work - it shows up in the catalog from 1969 clear through to 1985, so there's a good chance whichever era Triumph you're working on calls for this one somewhere in the mounting hardware.
