Norton Split Collet
Split collet (valve spring keeper) for the valve gear on a 1975 Norton engine.
This is the split collet that locks the valve spring retainer onto the valve stem, sitting up in the valve gear at the top of the engine. It's a Norton part - the catalog places it in the Engine: Valve Gear figure for a 1975 model, and other catalogs list this same number as a valve keeper, which is the same job by a different name: two half-collets that seat into the groove machined near the top of the valve stem and hold the spring under compression once the retainer cap goes on over them.

These are small parts and easy to lose track of during a valve job, so when you're doing a top-end rebuild it's worth having a full set on hand rather than trying to reuse ones that may have worn where they seat against the stem.
Our record on this one is thin beyond the figure placement and the 1975 catalog year, so if you're matching it to a specific engine, give us a call and we'll confirm fitment before you order.
