This is a spring that lives inside the gearbox outer cover on the kickstart mechanism. The catalog places it in the Outer Cover and Kickstart section, and one of the catalog listings we found ties it to the kickstart detent ball setup, which is the small plunger-and-ball arrangement that holds the kickstart ratchet or selector in its working position until you swing the lever.
