X-ring style seal for the shifter shaft on a Norton AMC gearbox outer cover.
This is a shifter shaft seal for the Norton AMC gearbox, listed in the outer cover figure. It's an X-ring style seal rather than a plain O-ring section, which gives it a bit more sealing contact around the shaft where it passes through the outer cover.

It keeps gearbox oil in and road grime out at the point where the gear-change shaft exits the case, so if that area has been seeping it's a place to check. This one shows up in our records for the early '70s Norton AMC gearbox line.
It's a small part but it's the kind of thing worth having on hand when you've got the outer cover off anyway, since you don't want to do that job twice over one worn seal.
