Norton Plunger
Camplate index plunger for the Norton Commando gearbox inner cover, holds the selector in position between gear changes.
This is the camplate index plunger out of the Norton Commando gearbox, listed in the parts book under the Inner Cover figure. It's a small spring-loaded part that rides against the camplate and drops into the notches to hold the selector mechanism in each gear position as you shift.

When this plunger wears down or the spring behind it weakens, you'll notice the gearbox getting sloppy about finding neutral, or gears not wanting to stay engaged the way they should. It's a cheap thing to check if you're chasing false neutrals or a gearbox that feels vague between gears.
Our catalog record for this one is thin - one entry tied to 1975 - so if you've got an older or later Commando, check your own parts book against this number before you order.
