STAY,FRONT LOWER 2 TAB
Front lower mudguard stay, 2-tab style, listed under 97-1273 (also H1273).
97-1273 is the front lower stay for the front mudguard, listed in the catalog as a 2-tab stay. It shows up under the MUDGUARDS (STANDARD) figure, which is where the factory grouped the bracing pieces that tie the front fender down to the fork or fork shroud area. The older parts books list this same piece under the H1273 number, so if you're working from an early book or an original parts list, that's the number you'll see printed instead of 97-1273.

A stay like this keeps the front mudguard from flexing or rattling loose over rough roads, tying the guard down at a lower point so it stays put and doesn't work against the mounting bolts up top. The catalog only shows this one appearing for the 1966 model year in our records, so if you're not sure it matches what's on your bike, bring it in or send us a photo of what you've got before ordering.
We don't have a lot more detail on this one beyond what the parts book gives us. Call the shop and we can help confirm it's the right stay for your mudguard setup before you order.
