Steady rubber, OIF tank
Rubber mount that cushions an OIF Triumph gas tank where it rests on the frame's top tube.
This is the steady rubber for an OIF (oil-in-frame) Triumph gas tank, part number 83-4931, superseding the earlier factory number 82-9062. It shows up across the parts books under PETROL TANK figures for both the 2.8 gallon and 4 gallon tanks, as well as the GAS TANK AND TWINSEAT figure, spanning catalog years from 1974 into the mid-1980s.

The steady rubber sits between the frame's top tube and the underside of the tank, cushioning that contact point so the tank doesn't rattle or wear against bare metal. It's a small, simple piece, but a tired or missing one is a common cause of a tank that shifts around or picks up chafe marks where it meets the frame.
If you're chasing down a rattle from up front or doing a full tank refit, it's worth checking this one along with its mate on the other side while you're in there.
