TAB WASHER SWING ARM NUT
Lock tab washer for the swinging arm spindle nut on the rear suspension pivot.
This is the tab washer that locks down the swinging arm spindle nut on the rear suspension. It's a small stamped-steel washer with a tab (or tabs) that bends over a flat on the nut, or against the frame, to keep the nut from working loose under the constant flex of the swingarm pivot. Once it's bent over it's doing its job; if it's been straightened out and reused a few times over the years it's worth putting in a fresh one rather than trusting a tired tab.

Our records show this part appearing across swinging fork and rear suspension unit figures from the mid-60s into the mid-70s, so it's a long-running piece in the rear end assembly. The older alias for this same part is F5944, which is the letter-prefix number you'd see in an earlier parts book before the 82- numbering took over.
It's inexpensive and easy to overlook, but a swingarm pivot that's loosening up because the lock tab gave out is not something you want to chase down later. If you're already in there servicing the spindle, it's worth putting a new one in.
